Sivananda Yoga Singapore
Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realize
Welcome!
Namaste. Thank you for visiting our site.
The Sivananda Yoga Singapore centre was in service from 2007 to 2014. Led by Sumukhee and Janaki, the centre offered yoga asana classes, satsanga and other yoga related activities. In 2014, Sumukhee and Janaki decided to further their Vedanta studies in India and the centre has since ceased operation.
There are currently no plans to re-open the centre.
Even though the physical centre is no longer present, we hope this website can provide you some resources on Swami Sivananda and other related updates.
To find out more about the current online Vedanta classes conducted by Sumukhee, please visit here.

Swami Sivananda Saraswati (1887 - 1963)
Swami Sivananda was born in 1887 in Pattamadai, Tamil Nadu, South India. His natural selfless spirit led him to a career in the medical field. In the early 1900s, he travelled to Malaya (now known as Malaysia) to work as a doctor, and eventually had the responsibility of running a hospital.
As a doctor, Swami Sivananda was saddened by the physical and mental distress he saw in his patients. He longed to help people on a more profound level. Through the study of yoga and Vedanta, it became his innermost desire to help people not only heal in their physical bodies but also in their minds.
Swami Vishnudevananda Saraswati (1927- 1993)
Swami Vishnudevananda was born in Kerala, South India in 1927. By a chance encounter, Swami Vishnudevananda came to know of the teachings of Swami Sivananda and decided to travel to Rishikesh to meet him. The meeting was a life-changing encounter which led him to enter monkshood in the Sivananda Ashram where he became the first professor of Hatha Yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy.
